coooookies

It is autumn.

Yes, I’m not afraid to say it, I wore socks and a jumper today.

Yesterday I was suddenly craving cookies, not necessarily to eat them, but to smell them.

There is just one minor problem: I hate baking.

I mean, I can hear you all gasping for air (please also say „oh heavens“) … but I’m a chef, not a baker.

I love the messiness, creativity and improvisation of cooking, although I’m German I hate that you have to stick to an exact recipe with baking.

Well, I did it anyway. In fact, I baked the whole weekend. Quiches, tartes and American cookies… maybe it was the full moon, maybe it was me deeply relaxed, maybe I suddenly fancied all the carbs, honestly, no idea.

Luckily, I have a supportive (and hungry) husband, so he drove me to the closest supermarket and let me loose in the baking isle.

If you bake more regular than me, you probably have all the ingredients at home, so here we go. For 16 large(or 24 smaller) American Cookies with a soft centre you will need:

2 eggs

130g of caster sugar

150g of soft brown sugar

1 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of baking powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

200g (salted) butter, soft

375g of white flour

200g of chocolate drops

                 ~

100 g of fudge

1 large tablespoon of cocoa powder

It is pretty simple from here on.

Preheat the oven to 160 °C.

Mix everything in order of appearance and then half the dough.

Mix the fudge into the first half and the cocoa powder into the second half.

Make little dough balls and put them on a baking tray with baking paper.

Push them gently onto the tray.

Make sure you leave enough room between your cookies as they spread a little.

I made three badges of 8.

Put the tray in the middle shelf and leave the cookies in for about 15 mins.

Leave them somewhere to cool, otherwise they will break.

Don’t eat them all in one going!

That’s solid advice here.

Sorry that my first post on my super healthy lettuce-blog is for cookies.

They are all gone now, back to normal.

Enjoy!
